As you know we closed on the cabin at snow bird lake last week. We couldn’t have done it without Keith’s help. From having someone replace front stairs. To going there to mow and tidy up the yard. When I found myself in need of a Real Estate Agency to sell my vacation home in Forestport, NY, the choice was easy. Ed Benn, the founder of Benn Realty was well established assisting buyers & sellers, primarily in the Adirondack Foothills, for over 40 years. Additionally, he was also a valued neighbor and friend. So when it came time for me to sell my vacation home on Kayuta Lake, as a courtesy, I called him to list my property. Ironically, that conversation was a bit disappointing. At that time Ed was at his winter residence and did not plan to return until a month or so later. I also learned he had sold his agency and while remaining an associate broker with it, was essentially semi-retired. He then referred me to the new owner/broker of Benn Realty, Natalie Roth. That left me feeling somewhat conflicted. Why? Because I knew and trusted Ed, I was reluctant to entrust what is widely considered one of the most significant financial transactions one might make to someone I did not know. Thankfully, I dismissed that notion realizing Ed had never steered me wrong over those many years I consulted him for advice. Natalie proved the consummate professional. From day one her knowledge of the dynamic real estate market was evident. More importantly, during our initial Q&A she demonstrated she was both a patient and good listener. Writing a “Contract to Sell” can be overwhelming for a first time seller. Her attention to detail and ability to translate some of the arcane wording of the contract was nothing short of exemplary. Once an acceptable offer was secured some complications occurred in regard to a sub-division zoning issue. This required a significant back and forth as a result of the many questions I would have. She always responded in a timely fashion and ultimately, adeptly navigated the transaction to closing. Anyone reading this review should be able to guess who I would call if I have need for a realtor again!
